supposed to force a dark mode on any application including third-party applications that don't already have a dark mode for example Gmail and Google maps.

I turned it on and looked at my apps and they were exactly the same as when it was turned off. The ones with the dark mode on Google such as Keep, Calendar, Photos, Contacts and Messages were dark and the ones without dark mode, such as GMail and Maps weren't.

The override option didn't seem to do anything.

I really like the dark mode for booting. I turn my phone off at night and turning in on first thing in the morning was agony.

Yes exactly. Dark mode for booting is a nice touch! Yeah force overriding dark mode in system developer mode settings doesn't work as expected.

Well, unfortunately, clearly Force overriding dark mode is not consistent.

No not at all. It was about carrier services. That was about gesture navigation the stuff about action launcher.

OK. RCS. If you are using Android Messages and can't get it to show status connected, uninstall carrier services. Then reinstall them from the play store. Go to settings- apps- messages and clear storage both data and cache. When you open messages it may say you can't use chat on your device. Restart the phone. Go back into messages and it should get you to enable chat. Then allow it to set up chat and it should work. The main issue is the carrier services. Had issues on husbands pixel 2 XL and my Samsung S7 edge and it was carrier services that was the key. Although you have to clear storage in messages as well.

Really liking it overall but so far one bug for a pixel 2 that is mildly annoying which is in app switcher it sometimes goes to full screen. I can still scroll thru but it's kinda confusing. I'll live with it, but it's interesting how it just pops up once in awhile. It is not at all consistent. I'm wondering if this has to do with not using gestures on my P2 in conjunction with the new gesture update.

I skipped the last few betas on my 3xl due to AA issues but I'm trying beta 5 since yesterday and so far it's pretty good.
AA seemed ok this morning but I'll check it out more later today.
I'm still setting up a little and so far the only app issue I've had is adclear. I can install it but it won't open. Anyone else using adclear?
I'll see how today goes and determine whether I can stick with this beta for my daily.

Update: disregard mention of adclear. I have adguard license, not adclear, and it works fine on Q

It was down to 40% by lunchtime today with only moderate use from 7am. I'd normally be a lot higher than that by then. I'll do a proper check tomorrow after an overnight charge and see what the stats are

Beta 5 is much worse on battery for me also. Let's see what happens over the next two days.

Well, I hate to be the first one to say this but dang! This is one smooth snappy update.
I'm seeing a noticeable improvement.

All smooth and everything works including banking and Google pay, only issue i've had is random volume issues where all of a sudden the volume is turned right down. Has happened when watching videos on amazon prime and also notifications and ring tone, not muted but just gets turned right down. Pixel 3
