Are the days of 3rd party launchers numbered?

Ever since gestures were baked into android the performance of 3rd party launchers has become less seamless and just a generally worse experience (IMO). I am mostly seeing it when navigating back to home where I often get a delay or extra animation and app switcher is also a little clunky.

Don’t get me wrong it’s not terrible but it is enough to push me back to the stock launcher on my pixel whereas I have previously used nova for years.

Just me or is the writing on the wall for 3rd party launchers?

naw, users will always want the control launchers have over the stock.

I stopped using launchers with the Pixel 2XL and there just aren't any features that I need that One UI doesn't have. They certainly add value if you like customization but just not for me.

Custom icons instead of from Galaxy store ...horrible choices now ..at least they are going to add double tap to sleep...gestures are key...hopefully stock adds more ...

Yeah....I don't need custom icons. That doesn't change any functionality for me. There was a time where I somewhat enjoyed launchers and even rooting. I just don't need it. When I had my LG G5 and V20 I couldn't go without Nova because of LG's lousy launcher.

Root was fun ..I’m good now don’t miss that part ..but if I’m looking at my screen all day it damn best be pleasing to me lol ...

Samsung with Nova and Google gesture is bad , with Samsung gestures perfect, as far as launcher going away , I don't see that happening.
