I read something recently that said these steps no longer save battery on Android phones. I am using Android 12 on a Pixel 4a. True? False? Or it depends? Thanks

My 4a has the best battery life of any other phone I’ve ever used in years. I rarely use Bluetooth and only turn it on as needed but WiFi is always on. However it is only set to home WiFi so is not constantly scanning. I don’t think it is any issue but everyone’s usage is different which makes any info subjective, so best option for the best info would be to test it yourself under your personal usage case.
The only thing I've ever turned off on my phones was NFC, 1 because I never use it and 2 for privacy and security reasons. Everything else I leave on because I use them all. Google also recommends leaving them on, because they claim the system is designed to minimize power use to those features when they're not being used. I personally have had great battery life with everything on, on all my modern Androids. But, and this might make a big difference... I don't run any third party apps on my phones.
In past you had or would toggle it off to save every bit of power but Android today is little more aggressive saving battery then before . Even when i experiment with those in power save mode it didn't do much .
I vote for the NFC Off if never to be used; other than that; I turn off nothing. I might turn of 5G if I ever get a 5G capable phone.
Too many people like to turn off features to gain a few minutes on their battery. In my opinion, if I have to turn off features I might use, the phone or battery needs to be replaced.
I used to recommend it waaaaay back in the day, but it's really not a noticeable savings any more.
One of the more prominent power drains is poor cell signal. 5G also uses more battery, so if you have 5G on and poor signal, that's a double whammy.
thanks for all your responses. what about the A12 extreme power saving mode? these other features still seem to get turned off.
Extreme power saving is pretty drastic -- you can see the details here: https://support.google.com/pixelphon...ts-pixel-later
What andriod version is the A12 on? Thought Samsung has gone away with extreme power saving mode.
I believe they are referring to Android 12 when they say A12, not the Galaxy A12.:)
Ahh make sense now lol
I did mean Android 12. Sorry for the confusion.
