Some apps using wifi and some not

I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i on Tesco Mobile. Google Maps is the only app on the phone which will use my wifi connection. Other apps and the internet browser only work on the 3g network. I have looked into all the settings as other threads have suggested and the settings are as they should be. I have tried resetting the phone as well. It just started happening a few days ago.

How is this fixed?

Can anyone help with this?

Also, Google Maps is the only app on the phone that will use my wifi connection. I also have problems with Google Play not downloading apps so I have removed it using root explorer.

Fixed it myself. No thanks to this dead site.
