Sound recorder works fine, but my voice can't be heard by others through dialer

Hi,

I am facing a strange problem with my Adroid (Jelly beans) phone. Suddenly, my phone's microphone is not picking my voice when I use the dialer to call anyone. They cannot hear my voice but I can hear their voice. I thought it could be a microphone hardware issue, so I tried sound recorded, and it worked perfectly fine, i.e it recorded my voice and played back. Could someone help me understand what is going wrong. I do not want to do a factory reset (..and I do not know whether that will work!)

I live in India. My phone is a Micromax A116.
