Re-recveiving old text messages

Out of nowhere my s4 began glitching with the text messaging. I can't recieve messages at the time they were sent by another person. It takes time and I randomly get it from between 1min to 10 hours. Also my phone has been re receiving old text messages that I've gotten from a day or two before and it keeps on happening at random intervals. I'm not sure what's wrong, could it be a virus or is it another issue with perhaps the battery overheating and messing up the signals for my phone? I'm not sure what's going on, please help!
