I have lost some important files on my Galaxy Nexus after there was a workplace incident. The files were deleted manually through a basic file manager, nothing special, however they were sensitive material important to a project I'm working on, hence why they weren't backed up on Dropbox or any other web based storage, and I severely need to find a way to restore them.

I wasn't aware Nexus MTP devices are limited in accessibility, I was under the impression the Galaxy Nexus was everything Android with no inhibiting bloatware or special launchers, which was the entire reason I bought this and entrusted my files on it.

Every single restore program I have looked into either requires non-MTP modes, or requires rooting which simply put, is not an option at this time, plus from everything I've read, internal memory is unrecoverable after rooting, so the only way it is an option is if it was rooted before the incident.

How do I restore without rooting?
