Is it safe to paste this into my system files to enable OTG capability?

I bought a USB OTG cable and it is not working. There's a Youtube video I saw that says paste this* into the <vold.fstab> system file, and it will give me OTG capability. It sais root required, I have no root but is it still safe?

# usb otg disk
dev_mount usbotg /mnt/usbotg auto /devices/platform/mt_usb /devices/platform/musbfsh_hdrc

This applies to my Android 4.2 Kitkat Tablet, and my Android 6.0 Phone. (both have no root access)
