So Google started their OTA roll out of kitkat. Which I still have not received on my nexus 10. (is the nexus 4 ota rolling out? Do you think Google started the nexus 4 rollout without announcing it?)

Does anybody know the technical side of what goes on during one of these ota rollouts?
How are they rolled out? serial number/location etc.
How long do they take?
Does the check update button actually do anything?

No one has a real handle on how they work or how they determine who gets it when. Just be patient. There are 3 possibilities:

1.) The package has been shipped and delivered. (Hit the update button if it doesn't start automatically and you will get the update.)

2.) The package has been shipped and is at your local post office. (Do the clear frameworks trick and then hit the update button and it will come.)

3.) UPS has your package info but not the actual package yet. (Don't bother. Hitting a button will not do anything at this point. Wait for it.)

Afaik there is no OTA for the Nexus 4 rolling out. Only for the Nexus 7 wifi so far. But, since Google published the factory images for Nexus 4 and all versions of Nexus 7, you can install 4.4 using the factory images.
