I used to use an app but none of them are working after 4.4.
Does anyone know how to trigger a rescan manually? I tried rebooting and still doesn't work.

Not entirely sure if this will work, but you could go to Settings>Apps>All, select Gallery, and Clear Data. I think that should trigger a new scan to repopulate the Gallery with photos. You shouldn't lose any of the photos on your device, because they're not physically stored in the Gallery's data.

Google made some changes so old codes don't work, you'll have to find some new media rescan apps that update with it. I would recommend one, but it need root.

Thanks. I forgot to mention that this isn't a problem with photos. Mainly videos that have been downloaded.

Right, but what I was thinking was that clearing the data from Gallery might force a while Media Rescan.

Actually The thing you need to clear data from is the media storage, You may have to re-assign your ringtone and notification because they are dependent of the media storage. Just reboot your phone as well.
