installs on the play store hang forever

I have a nexus 5 and it's rooted. Recently I noticed that whenever I try to install something from the play store,It will begin installing and the bar is moving but it stays like that and won't actually install. It will stay like that for days. How do I make it so I can install apps again?

Did that start to happen after you rooted the phone?

No. It had been rooted for quite a while. I can't pinpoint doing anything when this started happening.

Did you try rebooting the phone? I had that happen to me yesterday on my Nexus 7, and a reboot solved it.

Did anyone find a solution to this? I'm getting it on an unrooted phone and I have tried rebooting. If I roll back to the factory-installed version of Play Store, I can install and update apps, but then Play automatically updates itself and I am back where I started.
