I have a cheap tablet (bought from Aldi I think) supplied with KitKat (no updates).

There is a menu option to encrypt the internal file system (which I have done), and details on the Web refer to an option to encrypt an SD card - but there is no such option on this device. I particularly want the external/removable SD card to have an encrypted file system.

Is there anything I can do to enable this option? Alternatively, is it possible to create an EFS on the SD card (eg on a PC) and then register it on the Android tablet?

    Thanks for any info.

Welcome to Android Central! You could try a 3rd party app like Lock/Encrypt Files.

    Thanks.

I don't think that's the answer I need, because each file would have to be unlocked before it could be used. What I want is the seamless operation of an encrypted file system rather than individually encrypted files.
