I got tired of waiting for Google's nonsense staggered rollout so I decided to use the Wugfresh tool last night. Obviously takes a little extra work, but I'm no longer waiting for google to get their act together.

I still think Google needs to get its crap together and do these updates the way Apple does. Everyone at the same time. As a matter of fact I just updated my Apple devices today to iOS 8.1.1. No BS waiting for some staggered rollout. That's the way it should be done.

Toronto, Canada - it arrived and is now installed on my Nexus 7 (2012). Haven't really played with it much yet to decide what's to like / hate - though I did almost immediately dig around in Settings > Sound & notification to turn off Notifications on my lock screen. Really didn't like it, but it may be a case of fine tuning what stuff shows up there.
Also, not entirely convinced about the new keyboard....

You mean how Apple pushed 8.0.1 to millions of people simultaneously and it broke their touch ID and cellular connections?

Poor example. It affected only a relatively small number of users out of the installed base. Even I never was affected because it had already been pulled before I ever had a chance to get it. And 2 days later a fixed version came out. I still prefer Apple's way of doing it over the way haters like you would prefer it.

How is that a poor example? That's a perfect example as to why Google does it in phases. They dont want to "pull an Apple" and cause a ton of users to have issues. The aren't tens of millions of people out there with a Nexus device capable of receiving the latest OS like iOS has. When Apple released ios 8.0.1, millions of people had access to the latest update simultaneously and if they updated, it broke the main function of your device.

I dont like it any more than you do, but I know my way around the OS and don't wait for the OTA's.. I side loaded it days ago.

That's not a good argument for the reason that Apple has had dozens of upgrades over the years and that was the only time something like that happened. It is statistically insignificant because of its rarity and the small number of users affected. So once again, no a valid reason for staggered rollouts.

According to what I read your location has nothing to do with when you get it, but rather the ID code in your device. But you got lucky.

There some sort of unique device identifier in every phone or tablet which Google uses to determine who gets the update and when.
