Still no OTA, and the framework trick / *#*#checkin#*#* does not help.

It occurs to me that a lot of the lottery winners must have decided to sideload OTA/factory image

Can't believe there's still so many of you that didn't grab the factory image as soon as it became available.

Maybe because we don't want to wipe our device and set everything up again.

Google should put a "secret" button hidden in Developer Options that basically says "Force OTA OS Update".

It is now the 5th day that I'm waiting on my Lollipop... On my BOTH Nexus 5 and 10... Really hoping to get the OTA update before the weekend's over.. Sometimes I really hate the Google's staggered rollout..

I'm about as untechy as they go and it took a wee bit of learning curve but Wugfresh works great. Download wugfresh and install it, then download factory image, then set up Wugfresh for your phone/tablet by telling it what nexus and what build which are all in your device settings

IMO too many pitfalls with sideloading. lots of variables and lots of things that can go wrong if you don't follow the instructions exactly. i've read a few horror stories already. and my ADD/OCD is not conducive to following precise minutial instructions that vary from source to source and vary upon equipment and method used - OTA Zip, Factory Image, Toolkit, Unlock, Root, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Mac, etc. too much risk. poor risk/reward ratio. i don't need to brick my only phone - which is my primary mode of communication - especially on a Sunday night when everything is closed. it sucks but i've waited this long i might as wait a little longer for the official OTA.

The problem being that would stay secret just long enough for Android Central / Android Police / Phandroid / Droid Forums to be tipped off to the setting and then everyone would use it defeating the purpose.

come on. the percentage of customers that read those sites is probably 1%. the unwashed masses don't read those Android enthusiast sites nor are they chomping at the bit to install new OS updates nor are they technically savvy enough to drill down into Developer Options. most have neither the time, knowledge, interest, or inclination to force an OTA. they simply don't care that much - in fact for many it's a bother - a chore to update their OS.

I respectfully disagree. Because it would also get picked up by cNet, The Verge, BGR, Engadget, etc. If it's simply enabling developer options and hitting a button, it'll spread like wildfire.

i know people that don't even update when they get the official OTA notification! why? because to them it's a PIA and nothing that's urgent. you care, i care, but the unwashed masses do not.
