How can I delete recent apps without having to click on the X or swipe them away one at a time. In Kitkat they could all be closed with one click.

I don't think you can. Is there a particular reason you want to?

On my nexus 10 there is a button at the bottom of the list to kill the apps. If the list is long, you have to scroll to the bottom.

Yes. It's been my experience that I get better battery life if I close them.

There's certainly no harm in closing them, but I suspect the battery life change you're seeing is unrelated. The recent apps switcher isn't really doing anything; it just sits there regardless of how many things are displayed.

Yup, no more clear recent with lollipop. I wouldn't worry about your apps staying open unless there's significant drain on the battery, at which point that will be related to bad app.

If you have Chrome staying open as a card, rather than Windows within app, then the number of cards can be significant.

I also miss the option to tap on a blank area of the screen to go back to 'home'.
