Why am i not able to see which network speed band i am on. E.g. LTE or 3G on Moto X 2014 lollipop?

Usually it displays on the network bar whether my phone is on LTE or 3G. But it has stopped showing it two days back. Instead it just shows a stupid "R" to notify me that I am roaming. It would be more handy to know which speed band I am on. Anyone with the resolution to this issue please help.

Tech support at your carrier. If you're roaming (as far as the phone is concerned), it may just show R instead of the network. If you're in a new location, or they made changes at the tower, that could be the cause.
