User settings (or lack thereof)

I miss being able to customize all sorts of settings and tweaks to suit my preferences. Instead of improving the ability to do so, Android is moving further away from that. I know it's because they need to dumb it down for the masses but it would be great to have a power user mode to tweak settings that you are stuck with currently.

Could you specify what settings are unavailable now that you would like to get back?

The ability to use a static ip adress on a wifi-connection. On my LG G3 with lollipop, I can longpress the wifi-connection and in the settings window change from DHCP to Static, but that will disable the "Save" button.
( I never tried to do this befgore upgrading to lollipop, but hav tried on other devices with Android 4.x where one can change to static ip)
