I downloaded Clean Master to help get rid of junk files. Literally every time I open the app it gives me some crazy number over 600mb of "junk" files. Even if I just "cleaned" them out 1 minute prior. How do I know what not to delete if I do it manually from a file explorer app?

Further more, I only have 7 pictures on my phone and only 9 songs for ringtone purposes. Everything else is on an OTG mini USB flash drive. Besides my apps that I use on the daily and then the ones that I can't delete what should I do?

I think this is a good reason to not use Clean Master on your device. Apps upon removal will delete almost everything, except for a few trace files, and by trace I think it's a matter of kb.

I don't think I would worry too much about trace files.

Edit: Under Settings>storage, you can see a lot of files there, and you can delete almost everything, I think.
