Issue with headphones

My Bose headphones sound quieter on my 2013 nexus 7 than on my iPhone. It's not that big of a deal, but I'm curious about why this occurs. Please help.

How much quieter? You're certain the plug is in all the way, right? Some of these jacks can be pretty tight.

I always make sure that the plug is in all the way. And it's noticeably quieter.

Have you noticed that same degree of difference when using other headphones?

Yes. I have a pair of monster ear buds that sound louder than my Bose even when I put them both at the same volume level.

Do you know which version of the Bose headphones you have? I have had problems with my customers complaining about the same issue and the Bose headphones they had were the iPhone versions (in-line microphone controls that only worked with the iPhones and nothing else). I know Bose makes a couple of different variations, but that might be the case.

I think the model #s for those were something like MIEi or MIE2i.
