Downloaded the lollipop update lady night and now the only notification that works is that dam whistle. In the menu you click on a notification it works and saves as default but still only hear the whistle. I read in a nexus forum to move my notification folder but where is this folder and where do I move it to, that's only if that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm going crazy. Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Try wiping the cache partition, which won't erase any personal data: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10404

From what I'm understanding from reading other forms is that lollipop is only reading the notifications in one spot and it's not where KitKat read them from but the posts I read don't tell you how to move them

If that's the case, that would be really silly on Samsung's part. I believe the folder that contains the system notification tones is a protected system folder, so you wouldn't be able to manipulate it. You can add your own notification tones by copying a sound file to the /storage/sdcard0/Notifications directory (but this wouldn't help you with the preinstalled system notification tones).

I think that's the problem I'm having and idk what to do. The only notification sound that works is the whistle and to me it's like nails on a chalk board. My ringtones all work fine it's just the notification sounds. I wish I never got this lollipop 5.0 update. Any other ideas are welcome and thank you for responding.

Have you actually tried copying a custom tone to the Notifications folder, just so that you have another choice besides the whistle?

After copying a sound file to the Notifications folder, did you try rebooting? I used to have to do this with my old Razr Maxx.
