I'm new to smartphones...this is my first. I don't remember what I did that turned off the sound. I wanted the alarms etc. to only vibrate at a meeting. But now I can't figure out how to change it back to sounds. What possible things would restore the sound?

Welcome to Android Central! Swipe down the notification panel, and look for the Settings icon (usually looks like a gear). Then go to the Sounds & Notifications menu, and look for the Volume section. There should be volume sliders for 3 different things--Media (e.g., music), Ringtones/Notifications, and Alarms. Make sure the Alarm volume is turned up.

My husband finally figured it out. Under Settings & accessibility there is a no sounds choice. With that selected none of the other volume etc things worked to restore sounds.
