I have recently added a new 64gb memory card in my htc e9+, but when I try to grant apps permission to modify files on it, the memory card does not appear in the list to choose from. There is only internal memory and usb device (if there is an otg connected). The card works fine, there is no apparent issues with it.

My previous 32gb card appeared on there.

Maybe the card is not formatted correctly for your device.

It is formatted with Exfat. I read on some other forum that it needs to be fat32, and that a 64gb card cannot be formatted to fat32 with windows. Actually I don't want to risk the integrity of my memory card by forcing fat32. Is there any other way this can be resolved?

Your manual should tell you what type of format to use. What format was the 32gb card?
