I attempted to install the Marshmallow Update and after 3-4 hours on loop with the progress bar attempting to install and starting again. My phone (Nexus 5) now has ‘No command’ and the android icon with an open stomach and red exclamation mark.

I’ve attempted deleting cache and all other options from the safe mode option menu besides the factory reset which wipes the data, to no avail.

Am I right in assuming that a factory reset is the next best option? If so….

Is there any way to get my data off the phone? Mainly Pics/Vids (These are not on the cloud and were not synced) and a few others bits and bobs, via a laptop, before the wipe?
Suspect that the memory still has my data intact I just need a method to get it onto a laptop.

In an ideal world I would like to purely update the marshmallow OS portion as would have been the plan, , but I gather from reading other posts this is not possible.

Thanks in advance any help greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums. How did you update to MM? Was it by OTA or did you flash it yourself?

You can use wugfresh toolkit to reflash the factory images. The toolkit is found on XDA.
