Hello forum members,

I wanted to ask my fellow androidians if anyone knows if you can currently freeze "non-native" apps on the latest iteration of Marshmallow without Root and without uninstalling latest update.

Before I continue I am operating a
Huawei Nexus 6pp

I know this question has been asked in the past but I am starting a new thread instead of continuing existing threads due to the following differences:

1) Using latest OS update that incorporates modifications to permissions without requiring Root making it more likely to not require drastic changes to the base code to modify peemsions with 3rd Party Apps.

2) Referring to the nexus range with stock Android with no bloatware on the phone nor sim card

3) Top of the line Android phone with significantly better hardware specs than those of the last generation.

In case there is a technical difference in jargan that I am not aware of when I say freeze I refer to a suspended state of hibernation for selected non native Apps that can be toggled on and off to increase phones short and long term performance by decreasing the background use of apps that strain the devices CPU and Battery.

I have already gone to the settings I'm not referring to programs like Google Play Music / Movie apps which I know and have already disabled.

I am referring to apps I often use but don't require constantly such as Flipboard, Netflix, Allcast and more.

If anyone know of any current Apps, tricks or Apps in development please let let me and the other members know.

Thanks members

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried Greenify? I think it can hibernate apps on an unrooted phone, but I'm not entirely sure.
