My phone is a 2016 Galaxy A3 with android 6.0.1.
Today, I changed my phone's security settings by adding a pattern to unlock it. However, I changed my mind about this pretty quickly and changed the settings back to swipe to unlock. Once I had switched back, the home, recent apps and back button stopped working. I reset my phone and after a little while the home button is working again, but the recent apps and back buttons still do not work or light up.
Is this because I changed my lock screen settings? If so, what do I need to change in my phone's settings to restore function to these buttons? Is there a setting I need to fix that was affected by the lock screen pattern?
Or, is this a completely unrelated issue? Either way, a fix would be greatly appreciated. A hard reset is my last resort but I'd really rather not have to.
    Thanks in advance.

I would say unrelated... Try a cache partition wipe, that cures most minor ailments and you keep all your data etc...

Thank you! Unfortunately this didn't fix the problem, but the home button is still working fine. Any other ideas??
