I had the Google Home app installed on my old (but trusty) LG phone for about four years. After resetting the phone back to factory, I tried to reinstall the Google Home app but Google Play store is telling me that I have no eligible devices for the app to install on. I really don't want to reset the phone again just to see if it will work afterwards. Your thoughts? Thanks!

The version of the Google Home app on the Play Store requires Android 8 and above. Such is the risk of stringing along on an older device (Nougat is soon to be 6 years old, with Android 13 due for release in the next 4-6 weeks) and soon to no longer have support from Google for the Play Services framework.

You're going to start finding this with more and more apps.

Thank you. I don't suppose there's a way to upgrade my Android version, huh?

Depends on the model. Could try XDA developers and see if lineage has a android 10 or above ROM for it. I've heard that the home app works with lineage.

You have to install gapps and majicks while installing lineage, but it should work.

Unfortunately it sounds like you were running an older version of the Google Home app, and when you reset it now the only version in the play store is too new to run on your device. You can go to apkmirror and find an older version that will run on your device... I've done that with multiple devices where I either couldn't run the newer version of an app, or I wanted to use an older version because the new version was too buggy, or lost some features I liked
