After the Nougat update on my Nexus 6P it seems there is no longer a place to select which band the WiFi should operate on. It used to be under Settings-WiFi-advanced settings.

Is this just a particular quirk local to the phone, that a reflash might solve; or did Google remove the option for Nexus devices in Nougat?

I notice that too. I had 5Ghz only selected. 2.4Ghz is useless in my area with over 70AP networks so I never use it. Does not really matter though as it does not impact the battery the only reason why I use to turn it off was with older versions of Android it use to keep connecting to my unreliable 2.4Ghz Wifi network even though I kept forgetting the 2.4Ghz network as I only had to connect to it once and it never forgot it. I have not had that problem so far in 7.0.
