Is there a fix for the lousy Nougat battery charge indicator?

I have a LG Phoenix 2, which came with Marshmallow. The Marshmallow battery indicator was nice and linear. Then my phone upgraded to Nougat. Now the little icon shows 100% full even when the battery has discharged by 50%. Then after I get down past 50%, the indicator drops quickly, as if to compensate for its bad "full" reading. Same in the other direction: it takes 4 hours to charge my battery, but after only 2 hours it shows "full", tricking me into thinking it's done. Is there any way to calibrate this thing or otherwise restore it to its former good behavior? Thanks.

Nougat was a huge update, did you wipe the cache partition after the update? Doing so cleans the debris from the previous OS and freshens up the phone...
