My last phone died, and sync was not on. I think it was on Ice Cream Sandwich. It was not rooted. I was able to access the internal storage, and found various xml files at App_Manager > App_Backups > xml . (note image)

Ny new phone is an LG Aristo, 7.0 Nougat. On activation, it updated with an older version of Contacts from Google. I want to replace (at least) the Contacts file with the xml I found on my old one, but I can't access data>data(whatever) through File Manager; there is no such directory. And I can't root. None of the applications can do it.

If I could somehow upload this xml to Google Contacts, I'd be in like Flynn, but I've found nothing. Is there a way to do this?

Not in any of them that I can see. The others are xml layout, but the contacts is Time New Roman and all smashed together. Difficult reading.....although they may be old files, as the messages one is texts from a couple years ago...hence not relevant.
