"Oops... Can you try again?"

On my Moto Z Force (Nougat), Google Assistant has started giving the answer above to most questions. I checked for threads here and found a similar thread on the Pixel 2 but nothing here.

I reverted back to factory app and it worked with that version, but forgot to turn off auto update so it updated overnight and the problem is back. It persists whether asking a question vocally or typing.

Any knowledge of this?

I'm guessing you mean this thread: https://forums.androidcentral.com/g...92456-oops-can-you-try-again.html#post6263868. It sounds like a bug with the latest update affecting some devices. You can either wait for the next update, uninstall updates, or sign up for the Beta program (which, as far as I can tell, isn't affected).

Sorry I failed to post resolution. As B. Diddy suggested, the next update fixed the issue. Thanks.
