Yesterday I copied an Instagram sharing link to the clipboard and I was alarmed to see a notification pop-up from the Repost app, prompting me to share the link.

It's very worrying that apps that aren't even running have access to the phone's clipboard at any time. People copy all sorts of things to their clipboard all the time, such as passwords, email addresses, personal messages, contact information, etc. Any app could harvest clipboard data and do who-knows-what with it.

I can't think of a single compelling use case whereby all apps require clipboard access all of the time. There might be a few specific apps that could make a case for it but for the vast majority it's a completely unnecessary security hole.

Is there a way to control clipboard access on a per-app basis? If not, there should be.

Which Repost app are you using? There are a number of them in the Play Store.
