Chronic Loser of Phones

I have lost like 5 $700 phones, and I'm starting to get pissed at myself.

I am looking for an app that will basically send the phones gps coordinates right before it is about to die.

Even better would be an app that conserves X amount of battery and puts the phone into a deep sleep mode in which I can txt, call, or data command it to wake up and use the last amount of juice to tell me where it is.

Useful when: tailgating all day and leave dead phone in random person's trailer.

Any ideas with current apps, or should I starting writing my own?

Sounds like the quickest solution would be to buy an extended battery (and make sure to charge every night to ensure it doesn't die while lost), and install an app like Lookout Mobile Security.
