It is actually much easier to undelete files from an SD card, as long as the card is formatted as external/portable.

Can you describe how to undelete photos from an SD card for a Galaxy S7? Thanks.

I would use a card reader attached to my computer and do the undelete from there.
Plenty of undelete apps are available. The one I have installed on Windows is called "recuva".

It has been years since I needed to use it.

Interesting! I have recuva but didn't know what it does. I'll check it out. Thanks.

If Recuva doesn't do it, PhotoRec will (it has to be run on a desktop or laptop). Even if you quick format the card, PhotoRec will recover files from it.

I recovered some files using Recuva. Using "Deep Scan," it found 44 video files (not all viewable) that I had recorded and deleted. The only delete photos it found were ones I had copied onto the card and later deleted. Do you think there's a chance there are more photo files on the SD card that Recuva didn't recover? If so, I'll try PhotoRec.

For recovering video, is there an app you recommend?

    Thanks.

All file types are recovered the same way, the type does not matter.

The files that are most likely to be recoverable are the ones most recently deleted. The further back in time you want to go, the less likely of success.

That's what strange. It recovered files from May 2019 but not from 2-3 weeks ago.

The physical location on the storage can have an effect.

When a file is deleted, the entry in the directory/folder is marked as "deleted" and the chain of sectors used by the file is added to the master chain of "unused" sectors. How that chain is organized, combined, etc is an implementation detail.
The size of the new files being created can have an effect on which old sectors get recycled first.
