Let me preface this by saying that I don't use the widget, in fact I hardly use the app (maybe once a day at most, in general more like once a week, like a sunday when I'm out and about).

Anyways, I was playing around with proxy droid today and I notice that basically there was only one app that was being used

    Code:

basically every 6-7 seconds (while the screen is on, turn the screen off and they stop), the espn scorecenter app seems to be hitting the net. Now, I don't know if this would have any substantial impact on battery life (as it is only when the screen is on, and that's a much bigger consumer), but it seems like a huge waste. It make sense slightly if the widget was active, but as I said, it's not.

anyone have any thoughts on this behavior? I looked at the setting and didn't see anything that would indicate a background sync.

Does this app have notifications? Last I checked it didn't. But I haven't used it more than to download it the other day to see if it changed. This app is horrible. I would just get rid of it. So lagy and slow. And if it's doing that....

Really disappointed with the ESPN app on Android.

scorecenter android how to disable app from auto startup running programs

I downloaded this app today, having same problems as far it just constantly is running, even after manually going into >SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>"running" and stopping this app, like an overzealous prostitute, comes right back and starts back up and I can't find anywhere in app settings to disable sync or disable push alerts. I like the app mainly for "favorite team" content filter (all notification updates "off"), as I am from Chicago, displaced currently in Phoenix and am too busy to constantly search various websites to get info, so I do like the app but I am seriously considering uninstalling because, while I do not have any notification alerts set "on", this mofo app keeps running and bogging down, whatever I am using, wether it's Pandora or YouTube. So I just turned off data sync from apps, which It shouldn't have to come to.

EDIT: in Settings>Account and Sync< I disabled "background data" which is supposed to stop apps from sending and receiving data and which I am assuming would prevent app's from running? Not this beast. With this app constantlyrunning, not only is it it the source of causing other programs to lag but it's also in the process , has access to the contents of my sd card/ monitoring my internet activities and searches/ has access to my phone contacts, the people in my contacts' phone numbers, Email accounts and who knows what else! Yeah, I ainz't coo wit dat homay's. Which is to bad, cuz I like certain features of the app, but way too high maintenance. For me anyway, I'm sure they're many people who don't mind the very intrusive nature of this app. Then, this app is for you.
