Locale's effect on the battery?

I've been reading and hearing about Locale. Seems like a very powerful application. How much does it affect battery life while using GPS for the location-based profiles?

I am using it on my moto droid and I noticed the gps icon stays on all the time now not sure if data is transfering but worries me still.

Locale battery usage

Locale is listed by my Droid as having used 41% of my battery in the last 18 hours.

I think it may be wise to find an alternative app, or perhaps not use any rules based on GPS. (e.g. instead of "switch my phone to vibrate when I'm at work" make it "switch my phone to vibrate between 8AM and 5PM M-F")

I read about a time-based locale alternative for exactly this reason (battery usage), but I don't recall the name! Anyone know what it is?

From the sound of it, it's probably a wise idea to uninstall this app or not use it until a update is released.

Locale in 12 hours only used 10% of my battery, but all of my Locales are Time based none are GPS.
