    I've installed and uninstalled a lot of apps there seems to be files/folders left behind. If a factory reset was done, it will restore the storage to "like new" and remove all those unused/unneeded files and folders, right?

    Yes, thats right. it will wipe all user data and make it just like when you bought it.

    go to settings-->backup and reset-->factory reset data
