I know FoxFi had been a pretty popular app, and that many were frustrated when it went from free to $8. I just noticed a discounted unlock key ($3.49) that appeared on Google Play yesterday and didn't know if anyone else had seen it. It says available for a limited time.

My concerns were that the $8 unlock key still exists in the Play store, the name of the developer is slightly different than the other versions (FoxFi Apps vs. FoxFi Software vs. FoxFi Service), and the domain of the author email address is very different than the others.

I sent an email to the developer but have gotten no response. There is no mention of a discount on their webpage.

Anyone know if this is legit?

I decided not to buy. Just all seems too fishy to me.

Final follow-up: For what it's worth, the FoxFi/PDANet manufacturer told me that the $3.49 app was posted to the Play store by a scammer. Not sure if it was malware or what, but it definitely was not an app sanctioned by them...
