Where is the traffic while using Google Vavigation?

Where is the traffic info while using Google Navigation?

While in Google Maps (the Maps app, not the Nav app), if I turn on traffic layers I see all the green yellow and red lines drawn on the roads. If I launch Google Navigation and just press the top right map button (showing my nav map with me on it) and turn on the traffic layer, it also shows the traffic lines. However, if I'm actually navigation to a destination and turn on traffic layers, it just gives me some overview type of image to my ending point, but never shows the actual traffic conditions. Does anyone know how to see traffic conditions while navigating to a destination in the Nav app?

I have not had any issues with traffic in Nav, but I think that layer needs to be enabled after it starts navigation.

If you look in the lower left hand corner there is the estimated time left along with a colored light, tap on that and it will bring up the map of your route with the colored traffic density on it.
