So I have plans to switch phone carriers in the near future. More specifically I plan to go with At&t. I was browsing through their plans and was a bit shocked to see they only offer a $20 for unlimited texting plan. I only average around 300-400 texts a month. So unlimited is over kill for me.

For a few weeks now I've been using Google Voice to send texts from my cellphone to my Nexus 7. And I am using my cellphones number as my Google Voice number. I plan on keeping this number when I switch carriers. My question is can I use Google Voice to replace At&t texting plan?

Yeah I use the google voice app. I have pay per use text messaging so I just do all my messaging through hangouts or voice other than a less appealing app it works just fine. The app situation may change with kitkat though with new messaging system not known yet.

Sweet. Thank you. Do you think it would be best to wait for kirkat to come out first to make sure there are no issues?

Well.... I mean its really close so couldn't hurt. I think the major issue could come with voice calls if it merges with hangouts and whether or not grooveip etc will still work if it is still better etc. Based on the ios update though it seems it will work out well.
