(Good) App to use with Outlook.com

The Outlook.com app obviously isn't very good it seems. I can't get it to sync both ways. What other apps do you use to get Outlook.com email?

I do have the Email app on my Moto X but haven't been able to get it setup.

Odd, I changed the setting under how much mail is on phone, and it now works. For how long, who knows.

Please tell me about the sync of calendar events. Does this method sync all events (past & future) or only a small window of time? I'm using Outlook 2013 if it makes a difference.
