For Outlook sync, be sure to check out CompanionLink. There is one option to go through Google, which is easier than the free Google Calendar tool, and supports Tasks and Contacts all in one shot without duplicates.

CompanionLink also has a direct sync option. This uses the USB Cable that comes with the Droid/Android device so it's fully secure and your data isn't sent over the air or through the cloud. Just plug it in and you can sync Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and Memos from Outlook, Palm Desktop or many other PC applications.

    Check out www.companionlink.com/android/ for details.

All CompanionLink solutions are free to try for 14 days, and CompanionLink offers free telephone and email technical support. The Google Sync and USB Sync products are $39.95 and are interchangeable if you later want to switch.

Tried Companion link. Didn't work at all. May be because I'm on 64
bit windows 7, but nothing synced at all despite following the directions exactly.

CompanionLink has telephone technical support for a reason. Every PC is different, and many people have different understandings of how a computer works. I can't really see how any PC product can be a real solution if there isn't someone who can help people out to make it all work.

We run 64-bit Win7 inhouse at CompanionLink. So it's certainly not an OS issue.

Give support call for any questions or problems, even on the demo version, and they'll help you out.

Actually my wife and I both run WIndows 7 64-bit and use the CompanionLink. So far it's been rock solid for us. Been using it since May of 2009 and feel it was well worth the $$

I love these guys. My first must have. To continue to use my current desktop contact app is a God send, and now to sync straight up to my Droid...I don't even use Google or the cloud...what joy.

    I have a few questions.

After the CompanionLink softwares are installed on both PC and Smartphone, how many steps do you need to sync? it it just one clik after the usb cable is connected? CompanionLink for WebOS seems to need three steps to sync.

Can it sync more than one Android smartphone to Palm Desktop? I have two users syncing two centros to a single palm desktop now.

Does android support notes attached to the palm contacts?

I have been trying to decide between android and WebOS phones.
As WebOs phones does not have hotsync anymore, I am thinking android phone pared with CompanionLink sync may give me similar functionalities of Palm PDA and hotsync.

I don't have to do anything to sync.. My CL syncs outlook and my GMail (I use it for contacts and calendars), I then sync my phone with my GMail (it's auto wireless, so no cables). I setup my individual email accounts in the email app, but again, just use the GMail for contacts and calendars.. been working great.. Even used it with the Pre (well, wife does), and I use it with the Moment, and we both haven't had an issue yet.

It's just changed, brand new update today, so will have to sync to find out, but I believe that it's a one button sync now, no mounting or unmounting of the sd card unless you have pix or docstogo to transfer.

Tried the wireless version a few times but didn't like the multitude of steps necessary to sync. I use Outlook and wanted to continue to do so and decided to give the direct USB sync version a try. Gosh, what a joy to use. Goodbye Markspace; hello Companionlink.

Sync contacts stored in the Android phone with Palm Desktop

The current CLUSB can only sync my Google account contacts in my HTC G7 with my PC Palmdesktop. As the Google account contact does not well support the "group" or "category" of contact, I gave up using Google account for contacts instead I am storing all my contacts in the phone, I need the CLUSB to be able to sync my contacts in the phone with my PC Palmdesktop thus I can manage and edit the contacts via Palm Desktop. That's very very important to me as I've been using Palm for 9 years, hope you can enable this founction ASAP. Many many thanks.

I found this issue when using the trial version. Now I just bought this product as I believe this issue can be resolved.

I just can't believe this product.

When I used it with my blackberry, it worked fine. Then I switched to an Android-based phone, and these people literally just can't get it to work. I've been speaking with their support people for almost a month now, to no avail. The product continually deletes appointments from ACT! when syncing (randomly); sometimes duplicates all 1,200 contacts; doesn't properly sync from Android to ACT!, and has even corrupted the ACT! database beyond repair, so I literally had to start from scratch all over again.

Their "support" people are by-and-large friendly, but they apparently aren't given the tools to be able to diagnose what ails this product, despite the [approximately] 8 calls I've been on; numerous upgrades (both to the PC and phone); clean wipes of the phone, one-way syncs from PC to phone, and on and on. And, they don't followup.

Today was the last straw. After spending about 20+ hours of my own time in trying to help them fix the issues, I called the support liaison directly, but he was busy, so I escalated the call to their support manager. I was told he was at lunch, but would call back upon his return. I politely explained to the receptionist what the problem was, and asked that he call me back directly (rather than hand off the call to someone else).

You guessed it - no call, no email.

So, anybody got any ideas how to sync ACT! with the Droid Incredible? I'd hate to have to go back to Outlook.

    Thanks in advance.

Just installed Outlook 2010, and Companionlink [for Outlook]. Sync failed -- got a reference to Google, error 403:
    Unable to connect with Server.
    Status code: 403
    Internet Error: 0

Cannot request contacts belonging to another user

Cannot request contacts belonging to another user

Error 403

Apparently this is a known problem to the vendor, since Google Error 403 is on the drop-down list when requesting technical support. Note that their general support information doesn't provide any info about solving the problem. Anyway, just wanted to post that I solved the problem for myself, before I finished my support request. Google lets me sign in with a non-gmail address (that I commonly use), even though I also have a gmail address. So, I'd put that non-gmail address into CompanionLink for my Google logon. On a wild hunch, I went back into the CompanionLink setup, and put in my gmail address instead. Voila'! Suddenly it worked like a charm. Wanted to post this somewhere, in hopes this might help someone else having the problem.

P.s. As to frustrated ace_3s3s3s's problem, I'd suggest not using CompanionLink to sync to a Droid Incredible. Instead, just have CompanionLink sync Outlook to Google. Then, let the Droid Incredible sync itself to Google.

Anyone else using CompanionLink and USB syncing to a Galaxy Tab? I have been having issues with the connection process and although I can eventually get Outlook to sync, I haven't been able to figure out the correct sequence of events.

It seems to revolve around the USB Mode on the Tab. In the default setting, I plug the Tab into my PC, I tap Mass storage and from here it gets wonky. If I don't tap Mount, sometimes it starts sometimes it doesn't. If I tap on Mount, same thing. Sometimes the sync window with the OK button opens on my Tab, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes my sync works, sometimes it doesn't. HELP!

Does anyone have a step-by-step of this process so I can narrow this issue down? The CL site does have one but it does not cover the Tab, only the phones and there is a distinct difference because of this USB Mode difference.
