Saving IM messages

Hi everybody, I need to be able to save IM messages between me and my girlfriend. We mainly use ICQ to message each other, but sometimes Skype and Hangouts too. I only use all of these on my phone not on a PC. I know the messages can be saved using a PC but how can I save the messages when only using my phone? I need to be able to print the messages out at some point in the future. I've been told that Hangouts chats can automatically be saved to your gmail account, but I don't know how to do it. Any help will be greatly appreciated

PS I'm not doing this for any underhand purposes in case anyone's wondering! We need to keep our chats as it will help us with our future plans

You're not using SMS? There are a number of good SMS backup apps, like SMS Backup & Restore.

My girlfriend lives in a different country to me. SMS would cost a fortune every month, so we use IM

Yup, its torture sometimes, but when we're finally together it will be worth it. And that's why I need to keep our messages, as proof of our ongoing relationship for when she applies for a visa for us to be together. So its kinda important for us to find a way to keep these conversations
