I took a 6 hour road trip and used Google Maps navigation the entire trip. It looks like Google Maps used 50 megs of data. When I take this trip using Waze, it uses about 4 or 5 megs. Any thoughts on why Google Maps uses so much data compared to Waze?

Not sure -- 50 MB really isn't bad for a 6 hour road trip. I would suggest downloading the maps before the trip if you are on a very low data plan.

Would downloading maps help? My understanding was saving maps for offline use was just to look at the maps. I thought Navigation always used a data connection.
