    Hi there,

I am searching for a good Android WiFi Scanner which is not just checking if the WiFi is "open" like no WPA Key but tries to receive an IP adress.

Unfortunately there are lots of open WiFi's like on airports which need a login after u had connected. That definitely sucks.

Maybe there is a app which is pinging a side in the www and checking if the connection is available.

    Thanks 4 your help...

The ones that require human login probably do provide an IP address (otherwise the browser would not be able to connect)

What you want is an app that actually connects to known external sites.

(I don't know of any. Nice idea though. It could even tell you which has the best connection)

U r right. That is exactly what I want and need.

Too bad, that no one knows such an app.

I wonder if this can be done with a simple sl4a script.

I recently used it recently to implement an 'app' I needed and it took only 4 lines of code.
