I know I could search the huge volume of threads for voip, and I have tried and haven't come up with the exact info I need.

My mom was recently (as in, 4 days ago) diagnosed with brain cancer and she and my dad are going to need a lot of help over the next several months. The problem is they live in a really crappy service area and making or receiving calls is spotty at best.

I have been trying to figure out how to use my Droid Incredible as an internet phone while I am out here, and have read lots of vague or technical information, but nothing concrete, step-by-step and clear. Here is what I have so far:

    a PBXes account
    Google Voice

I have been reading the PBXes website for their setup and it makes no sense to me...what the hell is a trunk? I don't know any of the jargon...

I could really use some help.

I had the same problem with Symbian. It's like a state secret!
Here's a link for a different phone, but he did explain quite a bit of it.
    I think it's generic enough.
How to: VoIP and SIP Client guide for Nokia phones
Best info I've found. It's from someone named ambsace.
DID was what threw me. I'll still be looking for info.

Also some of the web sites for the SIP providers - a lot are for business and cater to IT depts -
Some of the others look like ads you would never click on - for fear that you would get a virus!
Need a list of reliable vendors that others have used.
