Es File Explorer used to be a great file manager, but now it is getting loaded down with junk "features" and general spamminess. What is a good alternative that offers robust network shares support, as well as full external SD card navigation, free from Google's silly stipulations (for rooted phones?)

I like Total Commander, which has a number of add-ons for LAN and FTP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...0Ghisler&hl=en

I've been using Solid for a while. It's a very good file explorer. This is the trial version of you want to try it before buying.

Do you happen to know the difference between Solid Explorer and Solid Explorer Classic? Is it just an update to Material Design, or more? Will the classic version still be maintained?

I'm not sure if there are more differences besides the material design. I had to check that. This is the one I use with the unlocker key.
