I have ask, what would the point of blocking your number for SMS? Even if one could, how would the recipient be able to reply?

Customer Service: a customer might ask that you text when a repair or other service is done, rather than a call. The parent company has a policy of not giving out service tech's cell phone numbers but you want to give the customer what they request. A one way text saying the customer's car is ready or their water leak is fixed might come in handy.

I don't know about SMS but for calls, it is pretty simple...

Settings > Call >Additional Settings > Caller ID > Hide Number
