Android: 8.0, but this isn't a new problem

Now when I create new calendars on either Google Calendar or my Exchange Calendars, they promptly show up on my device. But when I delete those calendars (from my computer, for example), they're still there on my phone! I've tried to do everything to get rid of them, including clearing the data of the Google Calendar app. Is there no way I can solve this issue?

Outlook Calendar doesn't have these problems, but I'm afraid there's no widget support and their official "agenda" widget has too much white space for me to use.
