    Star Chart and Google's Sky Map get called Augmented Reality but they are actually GPS and compass directed star charts.

    I want to see one that uses genuine AR, overlaying the information onto the video feed from the camera so that one can truly point it at an unknown celestial object and see it tagged with its name and other data.

    It would be very neat to be able to "see" Venus when a direct view of it is blocked by buildings, mountains, trees etc - with its location overlaid on the camera's view of the obstacles. Star Chart and Sky Map don't do that.

    They're nifty and useful apps but the user still has to look back and forth from screen to sky and interpolate from the virtual screen view to the real sky.
