hi new phone same number

[Android Central Question]

hi messages not backed up so when whatsapp content transferred from original phone to new phone with (both samsung )different google email address'

messages from old phone not transfering to google drive

what can i do to preserve and preferably copy the messages on my original phone to the new phone, i have downloaded whatsapp app to the new phone already so how to get the messages from old to new given that the messages were not backed up

Put the old phone's Google account on the new phone, so it wiill get the backup from the old phone. If that doesn't include the texts, use SMS Backup & Restore to back up on the old phone, copy the backup file to the new phone (same folder structure) and restore on the new phone.

How do you know the messages were not backed up? You created a new Google account for the new device? You'll need Drive signed in to your old account using the new phone in order to access the backup that is stored in that account.

In order to restore Whatsapp backups on a new device you need 2 things -

1. The same phone number as on the old device
2. The same Google account as used on the old device
